The complexity of leading change

June 3, 2025

At the start of May, we were thrilled to return to the beautiful island of Bermuda, this time to facilitate the inaugural Bermuda Strategic Leadership Conference in partnership with our colleagues at ASK Bermuda.

One of the powerful conversations we had focused on leading organisational change in a disruptive environment. Something that requires a careful blend of innovation and adaptability.Innovation fuels transformation. Good leaders cultivate environments where new ideas are encouraged and embraced. They promote a culture of experimentation and curiosity, empowering teams to explore creative solutions and challenge the status quo. They build systems that allow those ideas not only to be generated but also executed effectively.

We discussed that Innovation isn’t always about cutting-edge technology or attention-grabbing ideas. Sometimes, it’s choosing a quiet upgrade in climate control over new gadgets, and gaining two extra days of shelf life that directly benefit your customers and your bottom line.Adaptability is the other half of the equation and is equally crucial when driving transformation, in a world of market shifts , tech disruption and structural change. Leaders must model adaptability themselves, demonstrating flexibility in their approaches and decision-making.

Encouraging a growth mindset across all levels of the organization allows employees to see change as an opportunity rather than a threat.Cross-functional collaboration, well-designed training and strong feedback loops help employees navigate and thrive in times of uncertainty. Blending innovation with adaptability helps organisations stay competitive, resilient, and ready to tackle future challenges.
